CleanPlanet-CO2 activities are structured into four phases:
1.
EMISSION COUNT: the calculation method devised by an ad-hoc Technical Committee gathering experts from leading scientific institutes including Turin Polytechnic University and The SUN- University of Naples- are used to quantify estimated greenhouse gases arising from the activities of people, companies, institutions and events. Counting can also be outsourced to qualified companies not belonging to the Group and selected directly by Asja.
2.
EMISSION OFFSET: following counting of emissions, an equivalent number of CO2 credits for CO2 avoided is cancelleD.
3. FILING INTO THE REGISTRY: to ensure full transparency, the relevant offsetting process is filed into the CleanPlanet-CO2 Registry. Such document keeps records of the quantity of CO2 avoided and of the offset requestor’s name.
4.
SPREADING AWARENESS: once offsetting is accomplished, it is published on the CleanPlanet-CO2 website and on both Asja and CleanPlanet-CO2 promotional material.
The CleanPlanet-CO2 system offers the following types of CO2 avoided credits, whose nominal value is 1 Ton CO2 equivalent:
CleanPlanet-CO2 VERs (Verified Emission Reductions) from emission reducing plants built by Asja in Italy and certified by DNV (Det Norske Veritas).
VERs from other standards: avoided emission credits from greenhouse gas reduction plants located in developing countries and generated under the Kyoto Protocol.
CERs (Cerified Emission Reductions): avoided emission credits from greenhouse gas reduction plants located in developing countries and generated under the Kyoto Protocol, already recognized as CDM -Clean Development Mechanism-projects and already registered by the UNFCCC (United Nation Framework Convention on Climate Change).
